Funeral: No funeral details available at this time. Memorial: 11:00 AM on August 13, 2011 CUSTOM DEATH NOTICE Erma Jean Postlewait, 90, of Decatur, died Saturday, August 6, 2011, at Keystone Meadows. Following a private family entombment at Star of Hope Mausoleum, Memorial Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 13, at the Central Christian Church Flewelling Chapel. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Christian Church, Macon County Special Olympics, or Lincoln Trails Council, Boy Scouts of America. Erma was born May 20, 1921 to Thomas P. and Hattie Gertrude Long Myers at home in Assumption, Illinois. Erma graduated from Millikin University and worked in a hospital lab in Oklahoma City. Richard F. Postlewait was a dental student at the University of Illinois in Chicago and sent her an engagement ring in the mail. They were married April 14, 1946, in the Presbyterian church in Assumption. He died in 1980. She is survived by three children: Lois Anne Lewis (Ross) of Brownsville, TX, Cheryl Sue Brown (Gordon) of Baltimore, MD, and Richard F. Postlewait II of Decatur; three grandchildren: Shannon Jean Sietz (Justin), Susan Anne Lewis, and Siobhan Fitzgerald, and two great-grandchildren: Jasper Postlewait Seitz and Adelaide Eisley Seitz, and several nieces and nephews. Dr. and Mrs. Postlewait started their family while in the U.S. Air Force. They were also stationed at Albrook Air Force Base, Panama Canal Zone. They came back to Decatur to raise their family and were members of Central Christian Church. She lived her faith which was witnessed by the way she and Richard raised their family. Her involvement in their church and the community revolved around her family and included volunteering at the Decatur Memorial Hospital Thrift Shop, President of the Gastman School P.T.A..and the Thomas P. Myers DAR Chapter. She was an understanding, loving and giving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband: Richard F. Postlewait, D.D.S.; one daughter: Marcia Jean Postlewait; one brother, Paul Long Myers, and two sisters, Dotha Elsie Hiler and Clara Margret Allen.
