Erma Hickey

Erma D. Hickey, 95, of Decatur, IL (formerly of Lakeland, FL) passed away peacefully on October 18, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Erma was born January 24, 1928, in Sutter, IL, the daughter of George and Anna Marie (Schroeder) Sparrow. She married John Hickey on December 6, 1947, in Hamilton, IL. He preceded her in death on October 12, 2014. Erma was also preceded in death by her parents, 7 siblings and son-in-law Tom Seitz.
Erma enjoyed quilting, reading, thrift stores and running. She and husband John ran many road races after moving to Florida in 1987. Erma treasured her faith, family, friendships and will be missed dearly.
Mrs. Hickey is survived by sons, Mike (Georganne) Hickey and Todd Hickey (Elise St. Charles); daughters, Rhonda (Terry) Fosser, Debbie Seitz, Jolynn (Paul) Harmon, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
The Hickey family will receive friends Friday, October 27 th from 1:00 – 2:00pm at Lakeland Funeral Home, 2125 South Bartow Rd, Lakeland, FL. Live streaming is available at the website below.
A celebration of life will be conducted from 2:00 – 3:00pm at the funeral home Chapel. Interment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the Hickey family requests donations be made to the First United Methodist Church, 72 Lake Morton Dr., Lakeland, FL 33801, or Antioch Christian Church, 5409 E US - 36, Decatur, IL 62521.
