Emily Irene Rohrscheib died on November 3, 2026 in Clinton, with family by her
side. She was born June 9, 1928, in Decatur to Ralph and Irene (Babcock) Widick.
She was the oldest of four sisters. She grew up in Maroa Township and married
Bill Rohrscheib on December 31, 1950. His first teaching position took them to
Wheatland, Wyoming for less than a year, after which they returned first to
Galesburg and then to Decatur in 1955.
Emily worked as an office assistant until she chose to stay home and raise a family.
After her husband's retirement, they returned to live on her family farm
southwest of Maroa. She lived in Clinton for the last 19 years.
Emily loved Central Christian Church and the music that accompanied worship
there. She sang in the choir for almost 50 years. She also cherished her time
spent singing in choral groups such as Central Singers and Grace Notes. She used
her talents on piano and pump organ, accompanied her children and other
students, and played for Union Church and Glee Club at Muffley. She enjoyed
crafting, cross-stitch, and cooking. Her candied sweet potatoes and rhubarb pie
were unmatched. She loved her many friends and was intensely interested in the
details of their lives and their families, as if they were her own. Most of all, she
loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and especially
celebrating their milestones.
She is survived by her daughter, Annilee Rohrscheib (Raymond Mucha), and her
son, Sid (Krista) Rohrscheib, all of Clinton, as well as grandchildren Mariam
(Robert) Cherry of Richmond, Virginia, Katie (Micah) Rounds of Mahomet, and
Sarah (Keaton) Miller of Monticello. There are five great-grandchildren, Larkin and
Mara Cherry, Ellie Rounds, and Ellis and Emmett Miller. She is also survived by
well-loved nieces and nephews Randy Rohrscheib, John Moesner, Rebecca
Franklin, Gordon Trotter, Brian Trotter, Max Wooten, Rita (Bob) Poyhonen, Joy
Wooten and Caroline (Andy) Wall.
She was preceded in death by her husband, sisters and brothers-in-law, Thelma
(Bill) Wooten, Charlotte (Jerry) Moesner, and Janet (Robert) Trotter. Her grandson,
Simon Amr, and nephew, Sheldon Trotter, also preceded her in death.
A visitation for friends and family will be held on November 12, 2026, at Central
Christian Church in Decatur from 4-6 PM, with a funeral service to follow. Burial
will be private at Union Cemetery in Oreana the following day. Memorial gifts can
be made to Central Christian Church.
