Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, November 5, 2009, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 5:30 to 7:30 P.M., Wednesday, November 4, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek, IL. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.Emerald was born on March 1, 1923, in Wausauki, WI, the daughter of Russell J. and Mabel (Risinger) Evans. She graduated from Mt. Zion High School. Emerald retired from Caterpillar in 1982 and was a senior companion with CHELP until June 2009. She married Alfred W. West on December 30, 1943. Emerald attended Central Baptist Church.She is survived by her children Janet Irish of Boynton Beach, FL, Russell (Judy) West of Canyon Lake, TX and Joanne Chandler (companion David Randolph) of Clinton, IL; brother Herman Evans of Canyon Lake, TX; sister Eileen (George) Mose of Decatur, IL; grandchildren Brian (Tina) Kupiec of Titusville, FL, Keith (Carla) Kupiec of Gladewater, TX, Teri Flach of Decatur, IL, Mark Chandler of Bloomington, IL, Jarrod West of Champaign, IL and Blake West of Charleston, IL; 5 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.Emerald was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Velasco and the St. Marys 7th floor nurses, especially Velma, Cindy and Tracy.
