Elnora Hanaver, 82, of Cerro Gordo, IL, passed away September 16, 2025.
Visitation will be held 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at Church of the Brethren in Cerro Gordo, IL. Service will follow immediately after at 6:00 PM. Memorials in Elnora’s honor may be made to Church of the Brethren or American Legion Auxiliary Post #117.
Elnora was born December 31, 1942, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Harlow E. and Ethel (Mills) Bower. She married Oran Virgil Hanaver in November of 1960 in Farmington, MO.
She worked as an auditor for a hotel chain, and then as a dispatcher for Cerro Gordo Ambulance. Elnora was a literacy volunteer, and a member of Project Read in Decatur, IL, as well as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 117 Cerro Gordo, and HCE.
Surviving are her children Mayo Hanaver, Charlene Mills; siblings David (Janet) Bower, Martha Lynch; 20 Grandchildren, and 23 Great-Grandchildren.
Elnora was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son John Mark, and sister Nancy Jo Carle.
