Elmer M. Ruple, 69, of Decatur, died Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 9, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, with Military Rites provided by the Sangamon County Inter-Veterans Burial Detail. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM, Wednesday, March 8, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. He proudly served his country as an electronics engineer in the U.S. Navy. Elmer owned RS Electronics in Decatur, and was an electrical engineer for WAND for 40 years. He enjoyed electronics and had his own internet radio station.He is survived by his mother, Eleanor Lamm of Fountaintown, IN; daughter, Amy (Zachery) Crose and son, Bryan (Nicole) Ruple, all of Decatur; grandchildren, Ryan, Bryce, and Brayden; sisters, Roberta Joy Wadman of St. Augustine, FL and Denise Williams of Fountaintown, IN; several nieces and nephews.Elmer was preceded in death by his father, Robert and brother, Jerry.
