Ellen Frances (Durflinger) Furstenberg, 93, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 1:31 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2014 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 21, at Berea Christian Church, Mt. Auburn, IL, with Rev. Michael Smith officiating. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Monday, October 20, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Burial will be in Berea Cemetery, Mt. Auburn, IL. Memorials may be made to Berea Christian Church. Ellen was born June 28, 1921, in Niantic, IL, the daughter of Ralph and Ethel (Wree) Durflinger. She married Dwain F. Furstenberg on February 27, 1941, in St. Charles, MO. He preceded her in death on November 1, 2009. Ellen was a member of Berea Christian Church where she was chorister. She also taught Bible School and was a member of the Christians Women's Fellowship. Ellen was also a member of Ladies of the ATA. She worked along side her husband Dwain farming their land for many years. One of her greatest joys was playing the piano, especially at Keystone Meadows Assisted Living. Surviving are her son Joseph "Joe" Furstenberg and wife Pamela Kay of Illiopolis, IL; daughter Alice I. Woodrum and husband Terry of Decatur, IL; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dwain, three brothers and two sisters. "
