Ellen Margaret Brown, 98, of Decatur, IL, passed away 4:50 p.m., Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at Imboden Creek Living Center, Decatur, IL. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 17, 2014, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to Eastern Star Decatur Chapter. Ellen was born July 24, 1916, in Dewitt County, IL, the daughter of William Ciol and Verna Deane (Hume) Oakley. She married Charles "Charlie" M. Brown on December 25, 1936 in Clinton, IL. He preceded her in death on June 12, 1980. Ellen was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She worked at DuPont in her early years and did bookkeeping for several companies in Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Joliet, IL and Peoria, IL. She moved to Decatur in 1955 and worked in the auditing department of Citizens National Bank and ended her career at Moran Funeral Home as secretary. Ellen was a member of Ladies U.C.C. of Engineers of Peoria, former Eastern Star member, Order of Amerith in Court of Prairie, and Worthy Matron of High Priest in Shrine. She is survived by her sons Charles Keith Brown of Foley, AL, Michael R. Brown and wife Judy Lynn of Decatur, IL; grandchildren Danny Brown, Tina Brown, Robbie Brown (Leigh Ann), Jerry Brown (Beth), Richie Hebner, Terry Brown (Tara), Christina Gillaspie (Dale), Michael Brown (Laurel); 16 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren, 1 step grandchildren, 3 step great grandchildren; sister Mary Lois Dooley. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one granddaughter, two brothers, one sister, and one daughter-in-law. "
