Elizabeth D. Tippitt, 103, of Decatur, IL, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 6:45 P.M., Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at McKinley Court Nursing Home, Decatur, IL. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to Elwin United Methodist Church. Elizabeth was born August 7, 1908, in Newton, IL, the daughter of William T. and Bessie (Jones) McClure. She married Elmer C. Tippitt in 1928 in Decatur, IL. He preceded her in death in December 1968. Elizabeth was a member of Elwin United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, former member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, and loved teaching Sunday School. She and her husband owned and operated Tippitt Market and she also worked for Post Jewelry in the China Department. She was a volunteer for DOVE and Meals on Wheels and enjoyed playing the Kazoo and Egg Beater in the Kitchen Deserter Band, and playing Skip-Bo. She is survived by her daughter Shirley J. (Harry L.) Wells of Decatur, IL; grandchildren Cheryl (Daniel) Thorstenson, Susan (Alex) Jacoy, Timothy (Tamara) Wells, and Lisa (David) Hilton; 5 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer, sisters Margaret Rankin, Mildred Woolverton, Mary Brimm, Maybelle Thompson and Doris Edwards. "
