Eldon Bud Bissey, 91, of Decatur, died, 8:07 PM May 30, 2009, at his residence. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday June 4, 2009 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Visitation will begin prior to the service at 11:30 AM. Burial will be at the Graceland Cemetery.Memorials have been suggested to a charity of the donors choice. Bud was born February 1, 1918 in Harristown, IL, the son of Leland A. and Christenia (Monical) Bissey.On October 21, 1939, in Decatur, he married Dorothy Jane Stivers, beginning a union that lasted over 58 years. She died in 1998.Shortly after his marriage, Bud was employed by the Millikin National Bank. Although his employment would be interrupted by World War II Army service in France and Germany, he came back to Decatur in 1946 and resumed work. His banking career included working at teller windows, commercial loan officer, consumer loans, and any other needs the bank required. He retired as a Vice President in 1983. Bud was a member of Central Christian Church. He also was an avid boater on Lake Decatur, and also volunteered with the Boy Scouts in the Sea Scout program. He was quite active in his retirement, using his extensive workshop at home in many projects for area organizations. He could build and/or repair many types of wooden products, such as furniture, bookcases, etc., thus saving expenses for several local organizations. He was active in Junior Achievement of Decatur, the Macon County Historical Society, the Golden K Kiwanis, St. Marys Hospital Auxiliary, and Rock Springs Center, where he enjoyed helping make syrup for pancake day.Surviving are one son, Thomas (wife, Judy) Bissey of San Rafael, CA; Three daughters, Sally Force of Decatur, IL, Janie (husband, Jim) Lewis of Decatur, IL, Mary Ann (husband, Joel) Edmonson of Decatur, IL sisters: Mary Louise Gambrill of Harristown, IL and Betty Lois Glasscock of Moultrie Co, IL, 9 Grandchildren: Todd, Scott, James, Amy, Colin, Bryan, Julie, Matthew and Douglas and 15 Great Grandchildren: Nicole, Jason, Collett, Casey, Ariana, Adelei, Connor, Chris, Cameron, Parker, Whitney, Sidney, Jackson, Colby and Madelyn.Eldon was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and one brotherBrintlinger & Earl Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.Condolences may be left to the family at www.brintlingerandearl.com "
