Eileen Dowd Eldridge, 72, of Decatur, IL, died 5:40 p.m., Thursday, December 19, 2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur, IL. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at Resurrection Life Church, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, December 23, 2013, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Eileen was born December 21, 1940 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of James Clifford and Margie Louise (Bourne) Dowd. She married Kenneth L. Huston on September 13, 1962 in Las Vegas, NV and he preceded her in death on December 17, 1979. She later married Kay Eldridge on December 5, 1981. Eileen was the “family matriarch”, the oldest of 7 children and was an excellent cook. She was a former realtor and a breeder of national champion stock of Arabian horses. Eileen was a member of the Country Club of Decatur and a former member of the Decatur Athletic Club where she enjoyed playing tennis. She is survived by her husband Kay of Decatur; daughters Kandy Leigh Huston and Holly Lyn Markwell, both of Sarasota, FL; step daughter Patricia Kay Sammons of Mt. Zion, IL; stepson Skip (Sue) Huston of Decatur, IL; grandchildren Nicholas Perdue, Malibu Perdue, Colby Markwell, Megan Markwell, Fallon Markwell; siblings Jonathan Mark Dowd of Summersville, MO, Trucilla (Richard) McLaughlin of Argenta, IL, Timothy Michael (Karen) Dowd of Lithia Springs, FL, Necia (Pat) Shelton of Santa Maria, CA, Margie (Jim) Landrum of Colorado Springs, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepson Christopher Eldridge, and brother James Dowd. "
