Earl L. Montague, 77, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 12:57 a.m. Saturday, September 28, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek, IL. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation. Earl was born June 21, 1936, in Mt. Zion, IL, the son of James M. and Pearl V. (Hedenburg) Montague. He married Illa Evelyn Lewis on June 25, 1975, in Decatur. She preceded him in death on May 3, 2006. Earl was a former member of Dalton City Christian Church. He previously worked at Sears Roebuck as an automotive manager for over 30 years, owner and operator of Macon Motel, and later owned and operated Spring Green Lawn Care for 15 yeras. Surviving are his daughter Debbie Maxwell and husband Jim of Peoria, IL; sons Bill Montague of East Peoria, IL and Rodney Montague and wife Pam of Decatur, IL; step-sons Mike Having and wife Cathy of Decatur, IL and Melvin Having of Carterville, IL: 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren and 7 step-great-grandchildren; sisters Donna A. Henson of Oakley, IL and Janet M. Moore of Decatur, IL. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, and his best friend Sammy. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, wife Illa, one grandchild, three brothers and one sister. "
