Douglas Schmidt

Douglas Edward Schmidt, 55, of Decatur, IL, passed away at home. Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M., Sunday, February 5, 2012, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation one hour prior to service time. Douglas was born August 4, 1956 in Decatur, IL, the son of John Edward and Carol (Grospitz) Schmidt. He was owner and operator of General Rental since 1996. Douglas loved to travel, especially to the Caribbean, and was a former member of the Decatur Jaycees. He is survived by his children, Toby E.G. Schmidt and wife Lauren of Chicago, IL; Heidi M. Schmidt of Champaign, IL; grandchild Béla J. Raymond; sisters, Careen Jennings of Storrs, CT; Janet Trueblood and husband Joseph of Pflugerville, TX; Joy Hartlage and husband Ron of Louisville, KY; and brother, Kent Schmidt of Ft. Collins, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gregory Schmidt. "
