Douglas Niester

Douglas D. Niester, 65, of Decatur, died Thursday, August 6, 2015, at his home. Funeral services will be 11:30 A.M. Tuesday, August 11, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, with visitation 6-8 P.M. Monday, August 10, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery, Decatur. Memorials may be made to DMH Hospice. Douglas was born November 8, 1949, in Grinnell, Iowa, the son of Duane and Barbara (Wilcox) Niester. He married Linda C. Park, the daughter of Chub and Joyce Park, April 7, 1984. Douglas was an airline captain for 37 years, retiring from Spirit Airlines. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, camping, and photography. He did wedding photography part time for several years. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, N.R.A. and the Pilot's Association. He is survived by his wife, Linda Niester; sons, Andrew Overheul and wife Aaron and Richard Niester; grandchildren, Peyton Overheul and Wyatt Overheul, all of Decatur; mother Barbara Niester of Rochester, IN. Douglas was preceded in death by his father. "
