Douglas Clark Eshelman, 68, died Monday, May 11, 2015 at the University of Chicago hospital following heart surgery. Doug was born on September 16, 1947 in Decatur to Jane (Clark) and George Eshelman. Doug's mother and infant sister both died in childbirth when he was 3. His late grandparents Claudia and G. Roy Eshelman and Edith and Lynn Clark raised him. He served in the US Navy for four years and held various jobs during his lifetime. He began selling real estate in 1987 in Paris, TN and after becoming a Broker in 1990, opened TEAM Realty Co. there. In 1992 he served as president of the TN Valley Association of Realtors. Doug returned to Decatur in 2000 and worked at Lyle Campbell and Son, Realtors. In death Doug shared his life with others by being a tissue donor. He is survived by his son Anthony Buoniconti of Chicago, stepmother Charlotte Moore of Bellevue, WA; four half-siblings Robert Eshelman, Ann Estill both of Bellevue, WA, Laura Staples of Yakima, WA, Mary Mapes of Topeka, KS; aunt Joan Bliler of Decatur; cousins Jennifer Orange of Decatur and Susan Karau of Grand Blanc, MI. Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 21 at 1:00 PM at Fairlawn Cemetery in Decatur, with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard, where Doug will be laid to rest beside his mother and infant sister.
