Dorothy I. Short, age 98, of Niantic, IL, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at Hickory Point Christian Village in Forsyth, IL.
She was born in Niantic on May 1, 1924 to Cecil and Ruie Dodson Stahl. Her husband of 49 years, Raymond Short, and her brother Jake Stahl and sister-in-law Luella Stahl all proceeded her in death.
Dorothy was a life member of the Niantic Christian Church, was a cadet nurse during World War II, and a graduate of the Decatur & Macon County Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. While being a homemaker for many years, she also worked for over 12 years as a registered nurse in the doctor's office in Niantic. Dorothy loved reading, traveling, golfing, crocheting, and especially animals.
She leaves behind her only nephew Jerry Stahl and his wife Ann of Key West, FL; her great-nephew Jeffrey Stahl of Key West, FL; her great-niece Melissa (Stahl) Morgan and husband Alex of Clifton, VA; and her great-great-nieces Madeline and Ava Morgan.
After a small graveside memorial service at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, November 1, 2022, her final resting place will be next to her loving husband at Long Point Cemetery in Niantic
