Dorothy Peterson

Dorothy J. Peterson, 87, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 2:03 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital. Private family services will be held. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes, Decatur, are assisting the family with the arrangements. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or to donor's choice. Dorothy was born July 23, 1925, in Decatur, the daughter of Chester and Almeda (Woods) Ferguson. She married Albert Peterson, Jr. on March 22, 1947, in Decatur. He preceded her in death. Dorothy was a member of First United Methodist Church. She worked as a secretary for IBEW for 15 years and was a volunteer at Decatur Memorial Hospital for several years. Dorothy enjoyed reading and ceramics. Surviving are her daughter Janet Ferguson; son Dennis Taylor and wife Cheri; granddaughter Dawn Williams and husband Ryan; special niece Valerie Bridges; grandsons Daron Davis and wife Penny and Michael Taylor and wife Kelly, all of Decatur. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren Brittany, Kara, Garrett, Kyle, Wyatt, Camden, Brock, Collin, Sabrina, Chelsea and Jordan. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister. The family wishes to thank Dr. Grant and St. Mary's Hospital 6th floor for their loving care. "
