Dorothy Jane Nixon, 94, of Decatur, died Thursday, July 5, 2018, at St. Mary’s Hospital.Memorial visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until Noon, Friday, July 27, at Life Foursquare Church. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Riverton, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Decatur Macon County Animal Shelter. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home is assisting the family. Dorothy was born May 29, 1924, in Decatur, the daughter of Henry and Nellie Mae (Cross) Ellis. She married Vincent “Benny” Nixon in Decatur on April 21, 1946. He preceded her in death on September 11, 2011. Dorothy worked at Ben Franklin stores and as a receptionist for Dr. Shaw. She was an active member of Life Foursquare Church. Dorothy had a profound love for God, her family, and animals. Some of her many hobbies included genealogy, quilting, scrapbooking, ceramics, and she was a great seamstress.She is survived by her daughters, Connie Wilber (Charles Stivers) of Decatur, and Beverly Stoll (Henry) of Beason; grandchildren, Timothy Wilber (Christine Sawyer) of Cape Coral, FL, Mona Martin of Tyler, TX, and Jami Hallam (Mike) of Decatur; five great grandchildren; nephew, Bob Reynolds; niece, Vivian (Rick) Willis.Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Benny.
