Dorothy June Gnavi, 88, of Decatur, IL, passed away 7:50 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2012, at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, with visitation 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, at the funeral home. Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to Homeward Bound Pet Shelter, 1720 Huston Dr. Decatur, IL 62526. Dorothy was born September 11, 1923, in Hampden, Maine, the daughter of Frank and Stella Boudreau of Bangor, Maine. Dorothy graduated from Bangor High School. She married Alex Gnavi on August 5, 1944, in South Mills, N.C. and they resided in Collinsville, IL until1967 when they relocated to Decatur, IL. She was a member of the American Legion Post 365 in Collinsville, IL, and served as president of the ladies auxiliary. She loved children and dogs, and enjoyed crocheting and cooking. Her happiest moments were when her children, son-in-law, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter would all gather at their home. She will be deeply missed by all of them. Surviving are her husband Alex Gnavi of Decatur, IL; daughters Brenda Cook of Redondo Beach, CA, Paula Gnavi of Boynton Beach, FL, and Andrea Kaufman and husband Jerry of Decatur, IL; grandchildren Julie Cook, Todd Cook, Jason Parker and Alicia Reed, Ashley Kaufman, Sara Cianci, Kristin Pellecer and husband John; great-granddaughter Mackenzie Grammer; and sister Frances Allen of Bangor, Maine. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents. The family would like to thank Dr. Anthony McCormack and Dr. Stephen Goetter, care giver Samantha Becker and the nursing staff at Decatur Memorial Hospital for their care of Dorothy.
