Doris Ritchie

Doris O. Ritchie, 87, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2019, with her loving family by her side. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 3, at the Cerro Gordo Cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, is assisting the family with the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church. Doris was born October 18, 1931, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Oral and Doris (Soran) Richardson. She married Dean Ritchie on May 22, 1952 and they enjoyed 59 years together. Doris was a member of the Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church. She was a farm wife who helped Dean in the field. Also she was an excellent cook. She was known for her chicken and noodles, apple salad, and fried potatoes. She enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals. Also, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter Susan (David) Hollingsworth of Cerro Gordo; son David (Gina) Ritchie of Oakley; grandchildren Matt (Holly) Hollingsworth, Diann (Scott) Durbin, Heather (Chris) Houser; great-grandchildren Taylor and Michael Hollingsworth, Jillian, Griffin, and Bennett Durbin, Colin and Ellie Houser, Cheyenne and Marissa Gentry; sister Harriet (Avon) Niles; sister-in-law Elaine Ritchie Sommers; and several nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her husband Dean, parents, three brothers, and grandson Jeremy. "
