Dorothea "Doris" M. Nees, 91, of Decatur, died Sunday, January 4, 2015, at Eastern Star Home, Macon, Illinois. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 9, 2015, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery, Decatur. Memorials may be made to the First United Congregational Church or St. Jude Children's Hospital. Doris was born September 7, 1923, in Chicago, the daughter of Virgil T. And Elsie May (Yehling) Smiley. She married Charles E. Nees May 31, 1946, in Sullivan. He preceded her in death May 7, 2002. Doris worked as the Chief Therapy Technician in the Radiology Department at Decatur Memorial Hospital and retired after 25 years of service. She was a member of First United Congregational Church, a volunteer for the DMH Auxiliary and a Lode Star member at the hospital. She was also a member of the Vivian Chapter of Eastern Star, Macon, IL. Doris is survived by her daughters, LeAnn Roney of Greer, SC, and Judi Schloz and husband John of Macon, IL; grandchildren, David Roney and wife Stephanie of Greer, SC, Jeff Roney and wife Karen of Atlanta, GA, Jonathan Maricle of Waukesha, WI, Andrew Maricle of Waukesha, WI, Emily Squires and husband Corey of Chipiona, Spain, and Michael Schloz and wife Jodi of New Port News, VA; 11 great grandchildren; brothers, Jack Smiley of Springfield, IL, and Tom Smiley and wife Jan of Las Vegas, NV; sisters, Georgia Coco of O'Fallon, IL and JoAnn Creason of Princeton, IL; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, step-son Ronald E. Nees, MIA, Korea, and daughter Patricia Maricle. "
