Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 25, 2010 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 4 to 6 P.M., Sunday, January 24 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, IL. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church in Decatur, IL.Doris was born February 25, 1923, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Donald and Olga (Reich) Flenniken. She married Jim Dickerson on August 17, 1946 in Decatur, IL. He preceded her in death.Doris worked as an assistant to the Superintendent for N&W Railroad (Norfolk Southern Railroad) and retired in 1982. After retirement Doris worked part time as an office assistant at the First Lutheran Church where she was a Lifetime member. Doris was also a member of WELCA, Altarguild, and Church Women United. She also was a member of ABWA Decatur Charter Chapter, having served one year as Chapter President and being honored as Women of the Year in 1978. She was also Co-Founder of the Noon Chapter ABWA. Doris was an avid Cubs and Illini Basketball fan and enjoyed Line Dancing.She is survived by her daughter Donna Thompson and husband Lyle of Decatur, IL; sons Dan Dickerson of Springfield, IL, Tim Dickerson of Oak Grove, KY; daughter-in-law Maggie of Indianapolis, IN; 2 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents.The family would like to thank Dr. Keith Smith and the staff of Imboden Creek Living Centre for their care and compassion. "
