Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday (01-27-2010) at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to service time. Rev. Michael Waltenberger will be officiating the service. Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home are handling the arrangements.Memorials may be made to: First Baptist Church, Fair Havens Christian Home or Donors Choice.Doris was born on July 26, 1912 to James M. and Nancy (Cameron) Friend, in Boody, Illinois. Mrs. Davis married Paul L. Davis on August 20, 1948, in Decatur. He preceded her in death in June 1990.Doris was a member of First Baptist Church, Decatur Memorial Hospital Alumni and Auxiliary, Red Cross Volunteer and a D.M.H. Volunteer.She was raised on a farm, enjoyed her friends, family, church, traveling, volunteer work and needle work. Doris resided many years in Harristown and Decatur.She was a graduate of Illiopolis schools and a 1935 graduate of Decatur Memorial Hospital Nursing School. She was especially proud of her nurses training.Doris worked for local doctors as well as private care.She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Ivan Law of Forest Park, IL., Gene Law of Decatur, IL., and Richard Law and wife Kathy of Taylorville, IL., Agnes McKenzie of Chatham, IL. Myrtle Hinds of Oregon, Betty Adams, Lois Eddington, and Doris Unland, all of Springfield, IL., Judy Harman and husband Jack of Iowa, Nancy Schumacher and husband Roger of Springfield, IL., Don Stowers and wife Judi of Chatham, IL., Jerre Stowers of Divernon, IL., Sandra Stowers of Normal, IL. several great and great-great nephews and nieces, and special friend and caretaker, Janet Moore of Decatur, IL.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul, sisters, Nellie Law, Edith Blakeman, Allie Jones, Beulah and Velma Friend, Marge Stowers and Ruth Scott, several nephews and one niece, and a special nephew and help mate Ron Stowers.
