Doris Copenbarger

Doris Elizabeth Copenbarger, 88, of Decatur, IL, passed away Monday, November 6, 2017 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, November 10, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, with visitation one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Long Point Cemetery, Niantic, IL. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Oreana Christian Church.Doris was born July 3, 1929, in Harristown, IL, daughter of Syril Gilbert and Mary Eleanor (Maddox) Hastings. She married Merle Eugene Copenbarger July 16, 1949, in rural Harristown. Doris was a member of Oreana Christian Church and former member of Eastern Star and LA of the ATA Lodge. She enjoyed crocheting.Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Merle of Decatur; daughters, Ann Parrish and husband Rick of West Lafayette, IN and Cheryl Logue and husband Dan of Decatur; grandchildren, Patrick, Jonathan, Jenny, Joshua, Emy, and Cassy; 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary A. Leeper of Decatur, Joyce Carnock of TN, and Marjorie Bennett of Decatur; and several nieces and nephews.Doris was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Kathleen, grandsons Sean and Brett, and sister Jean Stahl.
