Doris Collins, 97, died on August 20, 2013 in Macon County, Illinois. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 24, 2013, at Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, IL. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL will be handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church or Lincoln Trails Council Boy Scouts of America. She was born Doris Jane Schaniel on June 26, 1916 in Macon County, Illinois, the daughter of Leonard Leslie and Oletha Rebecca (Pauley) Schaniel. In her teen years she lived with her step-father Roy Burnell. Before marriage, Doris was an elevator operator at Gebhardt & Gushard Department Store and worked at the family business, Schaniel's Laundry. Doris married Donald K. Collins, bread salesman, on April 22, 1939 in Burlington, IA. She had one son, Donald Wayne Collins. He and wife Barbara had daughter Cheryl Kay and son David Wayne (wife Kathy). Doris loved cake decorating, needlepoint, crochet, you name it. She was an avid collector of Transfer House memorabilia. Her best talent was not eating. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and its predecessors since 1934. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, parents, step parents, step brother Milo Burnell, half sister Maxine Tarr, and step sister Neola Thompson. "
