Doris Ann Basnett, 92, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2024.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be 10:00 – 11:00 AM, Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery in Long Creek. Memorials in Doris’ honor may be made to Good Samaritan Inn, Decatur or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Doris was born January 21, 1931 in Elmer, MO the daughter of Charles and Lois (Richardson) Parrett. She married William E. Basnett on April 17, 1954 and he preceded her in death on May 21, 2000. Doris thought it was amusing that she began her life in Macon County, Missouri and would finish life in Macon County, Illinois. She enjoyed reading and traveling - including memorable trips to Alaska and New York. Doris was a volunteer at DMH for over 20 years and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Surviving is her son: Daniel Basnett of Decatur; and a host of nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; and son, Robert C. Basnett.
