Donovan Dean Durland, 86, of Decatur, IL, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016.Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Knobs Cemetery, Tower Hill, IL. Memorials may be made to the Decatur YMCA.Donovan was born November 27, 1929 in St. Elmo, IL, the son of Philip Edmond and Mary Vivian Dial Durland. Don met the love of his life, Virginia Miller, while working at Illinois Power. They married July 17, 1956 in Cornith, MS.Don attended schools in Villa Grove and Flora, graduating from Flora in 1947. He attended Millikin University, where he majored in Business and graduated in 1951. He retired in 1990 from Sears in Decatur.Don had a Black Belt in Judo, enjoyed swimming at the YMCA, vacationing in New Orleans, and being with his family. He belonged to the Association for Research & Enlightment.He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Ben. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Virginia; a brother Philip Durland of Urbana, and Penny Riley of Houston; nephew Philip (Sharon) Durland of Villa Grove; niece Pamela (Rod) Clinton of Philo; and great nieces and nephews.
