Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Saturday, May 16, 2009, at Central Christian Church, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be 5 to 7 P.M., Friday, May 15, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, IL.Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church, Decatur Youth Hockey Association, P.O. Box 814, Decatur, IL 62526, or Decatur Area Arts Council.Donald was born August 10, 1938, in Springfield, IL, the son of Kenneth Leon and Edna Ethel (Holderness) Sheffer. He married Ellen Lee DeVroeg on April 28, 1962 in Deerfield, IL.Donald was a member of Central Christian Church. He worked at Homer L. Chastain & Associates Consulting Engineers for 41 years as a civil engineer and was a member of the Illinois Professional Engineers Association. Donald was a member of the Jaycees, Lions Club, Decatur Camera Club and the Decatur Area Arts Council, where he taught photography.He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ellen of Decatur; children William Kenneth Sheffer (Andrea) of Decatur, IL, David Linden Sheffer of Decatur, IL, Michael Lee Sheffer (Juliet) of Winter Garden, FL; grandchildren Ian Matthew Sheffer (Rebekah) and Emily Ellen Sheffer; sister Nancy Ellen Taylor (Ron) of Decatur, IL.He was preceded in death by his parents.Condolences may be left to the family at www.brintlingerandearl.com.
