Donald J. Nunn, 81, of Decatur, died Sunday, April 29, 2018, at St. Mary’s Hospital.Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 4, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4-6 P.M. Thursday, May 3, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hall Cemetery, Blue Mound. The family requests casual attire, and that no green plants be sent. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Macon County Honor Guard.Donald was born May 10, 1936, in Meredosia, IL, the son of Jesse and Mary Olive (Jones). He attended school in the Chambersburg-Meredosia district, graduating in 1955. As a youth, he spent many summers working for neighbors and learning to ‘live from nature’ from his Dad. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, and creating items whittling and carving. After his graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corp until he was discharged in 1961. He was willing to show and teach others many things he had taught himself and knew and shared so much about Mother Nature. In 1955, he moved to Decatur, IL and began working at Illinois Power (now Ameren) as a meter changer working his way up to Foreman of the Line Crew. He retired in 1996 after 40 years of service. He was active in the Ducks Unlimited and he and Kay are Life Members. After retirement, Don spent many hours in his ‘Chip n Shack’ making many things and showing others his talents. Give him a block of wood and he would make something out of it. He won many awards at the Ward Foundation Wildlife Carving Show in Ocean City, MD over the years. Don was a life member of Warrensburg Sportsman Club and a member of the American Legion. Don married Kay (Bliler) Nunn on July 1, 1962 in Blue Mound, IL. They have been constant companions for many years doing everything together - they were a team!Don leaves his wife, Kay, sister Doris Moore, sister-in-law, Sue Hale, good friend, Pat Noe, and many nieces and nephews.Donald was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Verlin Whitlock and Gail Nunn, and sisters, Vivian Nunn, Lila Dunlap, Donna Cooley, and Mardell Lidgard.Condolences and memories may be shared with the family in care of Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes at www.brintlingerandearl.com "
