Donald Cook

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 14, 2010, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL, with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard.Memorials may be made to Hickory Point Fire Department EMTs.Donald was born March 21, 1923, in Niantic, IL, the son of Cecil and Lottie Fern (Simmons) Cook. He married Barbara J. Jones on November 29, 1945 in Atchison, KS. Donald worked as a clerk for the Wabash Railroad for 38 years, retiring in 1983. He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran, serving in the 3rd Infantry Division. Donald was a member of the Retired Railroad Workers and a former Elk member.Donald is survived by his children Donna Kwasnik and husband Peter of Oreana, IL, Mike Cook and Gary Cook, both of Decatur, IL; grandchildren Craig Deverell and wife Terri of Mt. Zion, IL, Matthew Kwasnik of Oreana, IL, Alexis King and husband Chris of Decatur, IL, Phillip Cook of Champaign, IL, Andrew Cook of Decatur, IL; great grandchildren Austen Deverell and Caitlinn Deverell, both of Mt. Zion, IL; sisters Lois Stout of Decatur, IL, Janet Markham of Manning, SC.Donald was preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara, and sister Leona Tilton.The family would like to give special thanks to the Hickory Point E.M.T.s and the CVU Nursing Staff at DMH for their care and personal attention given to Donald.
