Dennis Chester Taylor, 81, of Decatur, IL, passed away on August 5, 2025.

A service will be held 11:00 AM, August 11, 2025, at Grace Methodist Church, followed by a burial at Point Pleasant Cemetery, Decatur. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home are assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials can be made to Kiwanis Club of Decatur.

Dennis was born on September 3, 1943, in Decatur, IL, the son of Albert James and Dorothy (Ferguson) Peterson. He graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1961. On September 8, 1962, he married Cheryl Hunter.

A furniture salesman turned co-owner of a contracting company; he enjoyed woodworking and building furniture. He took pride in his yardwork for his home and loved spending time with his pets. He was an extremely active member of Grace Methodist Church and often participated in major support of the congregation in whatever way he could – whether it be as an usher for services or a painter of the building; Dennis could be counted on to lend a helping hand. He was also a faithfully active member of the Kiwanis Club of Decatur.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Cheryl Taylor; son Michael Taylor; three grandchildren Sabrina, Chelsea, and Jordan; and cousin Valerie Bridges.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Janet Ferguson.
