Dennis R. "Dennis the Menace" Spencer, 66, of Palm Terrace in Mattoon, IL for the last 3 years, and Decatur, IL, went home to be with his Lord and God at 8:10 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2015, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital, Mattoon, IL, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 10, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, July 9, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek, IL, with military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Dennis Rhea Spencer was born October 8, 1948, in Decatur, IL. He was the son of Orville F. Spencer Jr. and Faye E. (Alsup) Spencer. He married Marie A. Jacobs on May 12, 1972 in Elkhorn, North Dakota. Dennis was a life long member of Peoples Church of God. He loved to travel and serve his God. He owned and retired from Spencer and Coffman Accounting, CPA's after 30 years of ownership. He served his country with the U.S. Air Force during the Viet Nam War, serving in Guam. Dennis graduated from Stephen Decatur High School and graduated with a Bachelor degree for accounting from Sangamon University. Surviving are his wife Marie of Decatur, IL; sons: Troy S. Spencer and wife Chris of Mt. Zion, IL, Shad A. Spencer of Alabama; grandchildren: John Farr, Joshua Mulvaney, both of Mt. Zion, IL, Shawna Clayton, Crystal Spencer, and Natasha Spencer, all of Decatur, IL. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis was an only child. "
