Dennis Rotz

Dennis L. Rotz, 88, of Decatur, passed away on October 14, 2025 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Graveside service will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Harristown Cemetery, Harristown, IL. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, is assisting the family.

Dennis was born January 21, 1937 in Decatur, the son of Virgil Clyde and Lela Mae (Mercer) Rotz. He married Margaret McMurray on June 8, 1959 in Decatur. She preceded him in death on February 21, 2012. Dennis proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. He worked for many years delivering propane for Niantic Oil Company. Dennis later worked for the Macon County Sherriff as a civil process server until his retirement. He enjoyed watching old movies, especially westerns and going out to eat. Dennis will be dearly missed by all of his friends at East End Grill.

Surviving are his son, David (Donita) Rotz of Blackshear, GA and Tammy (Mark) Laughery of Decatur; grandchildren: Brad (Shelby) Rotz, Joe (Elizabeth) Rotz, and Christian Bailey; and great-grandchildren: Halee, Blake, Lily, and Zoey Rotz.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret, and grandchildren: Evan, Jackson, and Jourdyn.
