Dennis “Denny” Lynn Lowery, 69, of Decatur, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 12, atDecatur Memorial Hospital after a short battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family.Visitation will be Monday, May 15, 2017 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home Decatur, IL from 4-8 pm. Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, May 16,2017 at Maranatha Assembly of God with Pastor Doug Lowery officiating.Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery.Memorials may be made to: American Cancer Society or Novation, which is an inner city ministry.Denny was born on January 28, 1948, in Bloomington, to Eugene and Evelyn (Baker) Lowery.He attended Deland-Weldon High School and retired from Caterpillar with more than 46 years ofservice.Denny was the beloved husband of Gloria Jean (Park). They were married on September 11,1976 and spent the next 40 years devoted to raising their 6 children, 12 grandchildren (with onedue in November) and 1 great-granddaughter. Denny is survived by his wife and children, Troy(Barb) Lowery, Tracy (Jeff) Day, Trevor (Kristi) Lowery, Heather (Jack) Vance Jr., Nicholas(Kelly) Lowery, and Ryan (Stacey) Lowery. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Miles andTaylor Lowery, Joel and Jillian Day, Tanner, Kamryn, Kendyl, and Karysa Lowery, Carter Vance,Grant and Oliver Lowery, and Greyson Lowery and great-granddaughter Peyton Lowery;Brothers and sisters; Carolyn (Don) Sennhenn, Bill (Gaye) Lowery, Doug (Rosemary) Lowery,and Jeanene (Phil) Edrington. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.Denny was a man of faith who thoroughly enjoyed spending time supporting his kids bycoaching baseball, basketball, soccer and leading Royal Rangers as a Commander. He was aninspiration in the way he led by example, the unbiased advice he offered, and someonepeople could lean on in time of need. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Fighting Illini fan.He also loved to read. He loved nothing more in life than his family and showed this everydayby his actions and unconditional love. He will be greatly missed by all he touched and was truly one of a kind. "
