Memorial services will be 10:30 A.M., Saturday, April 2, 2011, at First Presbyterian Church, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be 4 to 8 P.M., Friday, April 1, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Private family graveside services will be in Woodwreath Cemetery, New Berlin, IL. Memorials may be made to Scovill Zoo.
Denene was born February 25, 1939 in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Dennis and Marvene (Thompson) Barrick. She married James Stevenson Wilmeth on January 25, 1957 in Peoria, IL. He preceded her in death in November 1976.Denene was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
For 29 years, beginning in 1981, she worked for the Decatur Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, serving the last 15 years as Executive Director. She was a member of the State of Illinois School Board and former member of the Decatur District #61 School Board.
She is survived by her children Tami Oppedahl and husband Tony of Sacramento, CA, James Wilmeth and wife Vickie of St. Charles, MO, Mari Handy and husband Kevin of Springfield, IL; grandchildren A.J. Musser and Sarah Musser, both of Sacramento, CA, Peyton and Lydia Handy, both of Springfield, IL; sister Julie Baliva and husband Dom of Chatham, IL; nephews Nathan Baliva of Peoria, IL, Zachary Baliva of Springfield, IL.
