Visitation: 5:00 PM on August 17, 2011 Funeral: 11:00 AM on August 18, 2011 David R. Shelton, 67, of Decatur, died Sunday, August 14, 2011, in Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 18, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 5-8 Wednesday, August 17, at the church. Graveside services will be 3:30 P.M. Thursday at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, St. Peter, IL. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or L.S.A. David was born November 10, 1943, in Decatur, the son of Chester "Chet" Vern and Norma Louise (Rentfro) Shelton. He married Barbara J. Bombal in Decatur on November 22, 1975. David retired from Illinois Power after 37 years of service. His passions included photography, racing, and his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and a U.S. Army veteran. David is survived by his wife Barb of Decatur; children: Paul D. Shelton and wife Angie of Decatur; Sara B. Jensen and husband Jim of Mundelein, IL; Carol Lynne Geiler and husband Jay of Stanwood, Washington; Bradley A. Bombal and wife Elaine of Palatine, IL; Jeffrey W. Bombal of Decatur; grandchildren: Barry Bombal, Elizabeth, Lucas, and Margaret Bombal, Eric and Jessica Shelton, and Samuel and Grace Jensen; mother Norma (Jordan) Grove of Pharr, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father. "
