David A. Richardson (Dave), 67, of Decatur Illinois passed away on April 18th, 2018. Dave was born on September 26th, 1950, son of Lloyd B. Richardson and Betty A. Richardson (Cope). He graduated from Stephen Decatur High School and studied at the University of Montana - Missoula, falling in love with the mountains of the west. He went on to serve in the US Army, and later became a member of the Decatur Fire Department, where he proudly served, retiring as a captain in 2001. Always creative, he was an accomplished musician his whole life, spending hours on his beloved Martin guitar. After retirement, Dave enjoyed his extensive garden, weekends spent on his boat fishing for crappie, walks at Rocks Springs, and adding to his library. He is survived by his father, Lloyd B. Richardson of Sandpoint, ID; brother, Michael Richardson of Naples, ID; daughter Holly Richardson of Riffa, Bahrain; nieces Sarah, Katie, and nephew Shawn of Naples, ID; all who loved Dave deeply.Dave was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Ann. Visitation for Dave will be on Saturday, April 28th from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home. His ashes will be buried on a private family plot in Idaho, among the mountains and forests that brought him so much joy. In honor of Dave, memorials may be given to the Decatur Public Library and the Macon County Conservation District. "
