CUSTOM DEATH NOTICE David "Dave" Paul Register, 64, of Niantic passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2015. Dave was born on August 2nd, 1950 in Kilbourne, IL, the son of Charles and Ruth M. (McGlothin) Register. Dave grew up in Eldorado Springs, MO with his uncle Wendell and aunt Millie Carter, where he attended school, and was a four-time Missouri Child All-star in baseball. He served in the Army upon graduating from high school. Afterwards, he began his career as an over-the-road truck driver throughout the 48 states, gathering many stories that he would share with his family for years. As a mover, he met many celebrities such as Clint Eastwood and Willie Nelson. He was an animal lover, from his pet cow, Red, to his many memorable dogs. He always retained his interest in baseball whether coaching his daughter's softball teams, while playing recreational baseball, and, of course, cheering for his favorite teams the Cubs and A's. Dave is preceded in death by his uncle, aunt, and parents. He is survived by his siblings: Bud, Marthann, Evelyn, Dornella, Beverly, Larry, (John) Mark, Tim, and Rick; his children: Kim, Davey, Bobbie, Becky, Jessica, DJ, Diana, and Brandi; numerous nieces; nephews; grandchildren; and other relatives. A Memorial visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday April 13, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. A Memorial service to celebrate Dave's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Niantic Christian Church. Memorials may be made to youth sports.
