David S. Morthland, 66, of Decatur, IL. passed away at 6:02 P.M. on Saturday March 24, 2018 in Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home Decatur, IL. with visitation from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery Decatur, IL.Memorials in David’s honor may be made to: VisionWay Christian School, Taylorville, IL.David was born on August 24, 1951 in Decatur, IL. the son of Harold and Betty (Brown) Morthland. He married Barbara Brown on August 11, 1979 in Decatur, IL.David worked for the Herald and Review newspaper retiring as a maintenance technician after 35 years of service. He enjoyed going to Pop’s Place and Paul’s Confectionery. David was a member of First Christian Church, the Blues Society, Decatur Loyal order of the Moose and 20 year member of the Sister City Committee. David and Barb made 4 trips to one of our sister cities Seevetal, Germany and hosted five foreign exchange students through the Sister Cities Program. He also was a member of the Fun Time Cruisers Car Club. His pride and joy was his beautiful 1963 Chrysler New Yorker Salon. David is survived by his wife Barbara of 38 years of marriage, daughter: Kristy Waters and husband Wes of Taylorville, IL. grandson Bentley of Taylorville, IL., mother: Betty Morthland of Decatur, IL. sisters: Dawn Hackney of Punta Gorda, FL., Diana Roberts of Wentzville, MO., Darla Layman of Decatur, IL.; five nieces and one nephew.He was preceded in death by his father and one sister Debra Ward of Oregon.
