David Alan Flanders “Unky Al”, 66, of Decatur, IL, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Generations at McKinley Ct. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 5, at Central Christian Church, with a Memorial visitation from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, April 4, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. The family requests casual attire. Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church Preschool. David was born June 17, 1952, in Decatur, son of L. Richard and Barbara J. (Smith) Flanders. David was a member of Central Christian Church. He retired from Central Christian Church as head of maintenance, and also worked at Farm & Fleet and Von Maur. David enjoyed fishing, spending time with his classmates, antiques, picnics, watches, NASCAR and Harley Davidson. He was a craftsman and enjoyed history including General Grant, Civil War, and Roosevelt. Above all else, he simply loved being with his family, especially his great nieces and nephews. He is survived by his brother: John (Becky) Flanders; nieces: Ginger (Bryan) Morgan, and Angelique Fairbrother; great-nieces and nephews: Zach and Terra Morgason, Gavin Fairbrother, McKegan, Kaidyn, and Mady Morgan; an aunt and uncle and multiple cousins. David was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jane McKiou, great nieces Ebony and Anastasia and his beloved dog Ziggy.
