Darrell Lee Walker

Darrell Lee Walker, 91, of Decatur, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Mt. Zion Health and Rehab Center.

Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Life Foursquare Church, 2954 W. Ash Avenue, Decatur, IL. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will take place in Illini Cemetery in Warrensburg, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Wilson Foursquare Church.

Darrell was born on May 12, 1934, in Blue Mound, IL, the son of Burnie and Ida Belle (Major) Walker. He graduated from Warrensburg High School. On June 26, 1957, he married Carolyn “Cookie” Harvey in Decatur; she preceded him in death on April 15, 2006. He later married Gloria Hardy on October 18, 2008, in Decatur, and she survives.

Darrell is also survived by his sons, Paul (Ruth) Walker of Springfield, IL, and Mark (Janice) Walker of Coon Rapids, MN; two step‑daughters, Rene’ (Wes) Heckman of Riverton, IL, and Leslie (Jim) Snyder of Walla Walla, WA; one step‑son, Robert (Kim) Mathias of Savoy, IL; eleven grandchildren; five great‑grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Carolyn, and his brother, Don Walker.

Darrell held various positions throughout his life, working at Holsum Bread, Coca‑Cola, and 7‑Up, and later serving as a custodian for Springfield School District #186 until his retirement. He was a devoted member of Life Foursquare Church and the Christian Motorcycle Association. He enjoyed working word puzzles, riding motorcycles, listening to music, and creating leather and Pretty Punch crafts. Above all, Darrell treasured time spent with his family.
