Visitation: 6:00 PM on August 26, 2011 Funeral: 2:00 PM on August 27, 2011 Darlene M. Owens, 79, of Shiloh, IL, died 12:26 P.M., Tuesday, August 23, 2011, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Belleville, IL. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 27, 2011, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 6 to 8 P.M., Friday, August 26, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to Lutheran School Association. Darlene was born December 5, 1931 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Howard Archie and Marie Henrietta (Peckert) Green. She married Charles Ernest Owens, Jr. on October 28, 1950 in Decatur, IL. Darlene was born and lived in Decatur for most of her life before moving to Shiloh, Illinois to live with her daughter. She was an avid bowler who also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and baseball. In her youth, Darlene played first base in an organized women's baseball league. She later married and raised four children. She also worked more than twenty years as a Cardiology Technician and Supervisor at St. Mary's Hospital before retiring in 1991. In her later years she enjoyed being a loving grandmother and great grandmother, growing flowers, and gracing her family and friends with warmth and kindness. She will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children Debra D. Owens of Shiloh, IL, Melady Pogue of Shiloh, IL, Charles B. Owens of Bowie, MD, Lisa M. Hutton and husband Barry of Williamson, GA; grandchildren Amanda Lewis of Shiloh, IL, Alexandria and Samantha Hutton of Williamson, GA; great grandchildren Janis, Jillian, and McKenzie Lewis, all of Shiloh, IL; sister Dolores Michels of Decatur, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, brother Howard Green, and step brothers Corum Auton and Jonnie Auton. "
