Darlene Kay Nix, 66, of Decatur, IL, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017, in Decatur, IL. Visitation will be at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m, Monday, August 28, 2017. Graveside services and burial will follow at Maroa Cemetery, Maroa, IL at 11:30 a.m. Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities. Darlene was born December 24, 1950, in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Audrey Catherine (Jump) and Robert Dale Nix. She graduated from Argenta Oreana High School in 1969 as Salutatorian and later from Illinois State University. Darlene was an elementary teacher & librarian who worked in the Decatur Public School system, Anna Waters Head Start until retiring in 2002. Darlene was a member of Central Baptist Church, Decatur. Darlene enjoyed knitting, sewing, photography, genealogy, crocheting, and making beaded jewelry. She looked forward to her get-togethers with her ISU friends. Darlene had a strong faith in God and this helped her through trying times in her life. Darlene leaves behind her brother Bruce (Marsha) Nix of Monticello, niece Carly Nix of Boston, MA, special friends Sue Hemp of Decatur, Lynn Weber of Princeton, IL, Kathy Pfeiffer of New Lenox, IL, Jeanne Cruzan of Decatur and Leslie Evey of Decatur. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents. "
