Daniel L. Harding, 75, of Decatur, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025 at home.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025 from 5 to 7 pm at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, 2827 N. Oakland Ave, Decatur. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025 at 11 am at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 407 E. Eldorado St., Decatur. Burial will follow at IOOF Moweaqua Township Cemetery in Moweaqua, IL. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Tunnel To Towers.
Daniel was born on May 18, 1950 in Decatur, the son of the late Leo and Leora (Sunderland) Harding. He married Diane Morrell on Nov. 18, 1972.
Daniel served in the U.S. Navy. He was a firefighter with the Decatur Fire Department for 28 years, achieving the rank of Lieutenant. He later owned and operated his chainsaw carving business Bears and Buddies for approximately 10 years. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and he loved camping with his family.
Surviving are his wife Diane Harding of Decatur; 2 children Brandon (wife Nichole) Harding of Southport, NC and Christina (husband A.J.) Myers of Eureka, IL; 5 grandchildren, Austin, Morgan, Hannah, Amber, and Blake; a great-grandchild Bentley; a sister Sue (husband Terry) Schneider of Warrensburg, IL; and a brother Rusty (wife Anita) Harding of Braidwood, IL.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister.
