Daniel Owen Earls, 84, of Decatur, IL, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2014. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, at the funeral home, with Masonic rites at 7:00 p.m. conducted by the Stephen Decatur Masonic Lodge 979 AF&AM. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church, Decatur, or The Wounded Warrior Project. Daniel was born March 7, 1930, in Greenfield, TN, to A.D. and Clara (Richmond) Earls. He married Emma Lou Pickett on July 5, 1953, in Glasford, IL. Daniel was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and a Deacon for many years at First Baptist Church. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Stephen Decatur Masonic Lodge 979 AF&AM, Zohak Grotto, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict where he received a field commission and was in a military hospital for 18 months, receiving a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars. Daniel was a stock broker for C.R. Davis and Company before retiring. Daniel enjoyed reading the Wall Street Journal every morning and taking his grandchildren to feed the ducks at the park every time that they visited, and was the best popcorn popper that ever walked the Earth. Surviving are his wife Emma of Decatur, IL; brother Roy of Parsons, TN; children Cathy Wentworth (Dennis) of Downs, IL, Connie Duh (Louis) of Puyallup, WA, and Dr. Michael Earls (Dr. Kristina) of Tulsa, OK; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Ruth Daniel, Goldie Cook, and brother Gilbert Earls. "
