Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be 6-8 P.M. Monday, August 2, at the funeral home in Decatur. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Decatur. Memorials may be made to the Crosswinds Equine Rescue, 8182 E. 200 N., Sidell, IL 61876, or to DMH Hospice.Dana was born on January 9, 1954 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of C. Dale and Mildred E. (Dexter) Bowman. Dana was a stay at home mother for her two daughters for their first five years. She then went to work for So-Fro Fabrics. She left them for a career at Wal-Mart. During her 19 years of employment, she started out as a department manager and stayed one until February of this year when she became a Zone Merchandise Supervisor. Dana was a group leader for the Macon County Round-Ups horse club. She was active with the local 4-H club while her daughters were involved. She also attended and participated in the Tuesday Night Knit Night. She was truly blessed in that she had four great loves in her life; her God, family, grandchildren and her horses. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Decatur. She married Leonard Eugene Brewer on September 7, 1973.Surviving are her husband Leonard of Hammond; daughters Jennifer (Daniel) Gower of Cerro Gordo; Janet Clark of Decatur; grandchildren Vanessa and Jeffrey Gower of Cerro Gordo; Jessica Clark of Decatur; brothers Richard (Evie) Bowman of Boody; David Bowman of Decatur; and father C. Dale (Thelma) Bowman of Windsor.She was preceded in death by her mother, step-father and father-in-law.The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Benjamin Esparaz and the staff of Cancer Care. A very special thank you goes to the DMH hospice staff. Thank you is such a small word when you consider all of the help, support and kindness that you offered. Thank you for helping her and her family during these trying times. "
