Dale Brown
August 12, 1939 — July 21, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dale H. Brown after a brief battle with leukemia. Born on August 12, 1939, to parents, Earl and Eloise (Elder) Brown, in Decatur, IL. A life well-lived, Dale dedicated his life to raising his family, farming, and providing a helping hand when and where he could.
At the age of 23, he met the love of his life, Mary Daughtery, and the two of them married in 1962. They welcomed daughter Karen the following year. They began building their home together in Macon County where Dale continued his family’s legacy of farming. In 1974, Dale and Mary completed their family with the birth of their son, Jeffrey.
He was a member and past Master of the Kedron Masonic Lodge #340 in Mt. Auburn and a past member of the Mt. Auburn Lions Club.
Dale was an avid fan of his children and grandchildren’s sporting events. He could often be found on the sidelines cheering them on. He also enjoyed a good game of cards, a peaceful drive through the country, and a homemade cookie or piece of pie. He had a good time in life jesting with his wife, children, and grandchildren and his laugh will be greatly missed.
A life-long member and current board member of the Berea Christian Church in Mt. Auburn, Dale was a man of faith and believed that he would be welcomed into his eternal home where he would be reunited with his parents, sister Janice, and other family and friends that have passed before him.
He is survived by his loving wife Mary, daughter Karen (Don) Luttrell of Springfield, son Jeffrey (Toni) Brown of Decatur, as well as grandchildren, Elizabeth (Justin) Conaway, Cheryl (Ben) Morman, and Brett, Brooks, and Bryce Brown. He also leaves behind great-grandsons--Jett and Knox Morman and Mason Conaway, nephew Mark (Darla) Cochran, niece Gaye (Scott) Catlin, and great-nieces Kalie (Corey) Badman and Rhilee (John Fines) Cochran and great-great nephew Lane Badman and great-great niece Kollyns Badman.
His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure. He was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
A public visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 from 10:00 a.m -12:00 p.m. at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, IL. Service begins at noon with Masonic Rites. Private family burial to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Dale’s memory to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, PO Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394 or the Meridian Ag Foundation,
