Corwin Leeper

Corwin Leeper, 80, of Decatur, IL passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at the Imboden Creek Living Center in Decatur, IL. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 1:00pm at the Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, IL with visitation from 5-8:00pm on Monday, June 17 at the funeral home. The Korean War Veterans Association will conduct a formal review at 6:00pm on Monday, June 17, at the funeral home. Masonic rites will be following the visitation on Monday, June 17 at 8:00pm by the Kedron Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. #540 Mt. Auburn. Burial will be in the Berea Cemetery in Mt. Auburn, IL. Military Rites will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post #4495, Taylorville, IL. Memorials may be given to either the Illiopolis Christian Church, Sharon United Methodist Church, Berea Christian Church or the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Corwin was born on October 5, 1932 the son of Homer William and Ella Marie (Hogan) Leeper. He graduated from Mt. Auburn High School in 1950. Corwin served in the Korean War from 1952-1954 receiving the rank of Sergeant. He was a farmer, farming in Illiopolis, Niantic, and Mt. Auburn areas. He retired in 1999. Corwin was a member of the Berea Christian Church, on the Church Board, a Deacon, and taught Sunday School for many years. Corwin was a 4-H leader and was an Illiopolis Cubmaster for several years. He belonged to the Kedron Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. #540 Mt. Auburn for 56 years; Order of the Eastern Star #536 Mt. Auburn, Springfield Consistory - 32 degree Mason; Illiopolis American Legion Post #508; Life Member of V.F.W. Post #5038 in Dawson, IL; Life Member of Charles Parlier Korean War Veterans, and served on the Illiopolis School Board for 22 years. Corwin is survived by his wife Mary Alice Hastings (married on June 19, 1955 at the Niantic Christian Church); three children, Carolyn Dianne Leeper of Springfield, IL, Charles Gilbert Leeper (wife, Lori), of West Fargo, ND, and Thomas William Leeper (wife, Martha) of Decatur, IL. Corwin is survived by his grandchildren; Allison Marie Sherrerd (husband, John), Courtney Elizabeth Newgard (husband, Kyle), Aaron Charles Leeper, Clint Michael Leeper, Jarred William Leeper (wife, Lori), Evan Richard Leeper, Jenna Faith Leeper, and one step-grand-child Lillie Marie Sherrerd. Corwin is also survived by one sister; Mary Jane Burke (husband, Ralph) of Mt. Auburn. "
