Connie M. Wilber

Connie M. Wilber, 80, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation rites will be observed, and a private family service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will take place at Boiling Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Decatur and Macon County.

Born June 19, 1945, Connie was the daughter of George and Marge (Duda) Purcell Sr. She graduated from Stephen Decatur High School and married the love of her life, Robert F. Wilber, on September 7, 1962, in Decatur. Robert preceded her in death on January 19, 2010.

Connie devoted her life to caring for her family as a homemaker. She found joy in reading, birdwatching, cooking, and spending cherished moments with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Cindy (Jack) Peck-Thomas and Dale (Christine) Wilber, both of Decatur; three grandchildren, Amanda (John) Pizarek, Heather (Thumper) Nagasako, and Bradley Wilber; one great-granddaughter, Autumn Nagasako; her sister, Georgia England of Sullivan; her brother, Howard Purcell of Long Creek; and several nieces and nephews.

Connie was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, George Purcell Jr.
