Clifford C. Beals, 93, of Decatur, IL, died 5:00 P.M., Sunday, April 22, 2012, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, April 26, 2012, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 5 to 7 P.M., Wednesday, April 25, at the funeral home. Burial will be 1:00 P.M., Thursday, April 26, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Riverton, IL, with military rites conducted by the U.S. Air Force Military Honors Team. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association. Clifford was born March 12, 1919, in Strasburg, IL, the son of Stephen and Melissa (Rentfro) Beals. He married Helen A. Smith on April 8, 1950 in Decatur, IL. Clifford was a U.S. Army and later a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in both WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a line mechanic for President Truman's presidential aircraft, "The Independence". Clifford liked working on small engines, loved gardening, traveling, and camping. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen, of Decatur, IL; children Wendell Hollingsead of Decatur, IL, Diane (Ronald) Lugari of Decatur, IL, Carol Morville of Decatur, IL, Bud (Nancy) Hollingsead of Forsyth, IL, Pam Randol of Decatur, IL, and Steve (Donna) Beals of Niantic, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ella, infant daughter Charlotte, and numerous brothers and sisters. "
